About Us
United Technologists Europe Limited (UTEL) is a founder owned UK limited company, incorporated in 1993 by two R&D engineers Frank Kaufhold and Paul Grafton. Our ambitions were simple if idealistic: - We wanted to build a commercially successful R&D focussed company without compromising our ethical and environmental values and create an unconstrained working environment that would maximise innovative productivity.
Today we have over 40 employees in the UK and France with the majority directly focussed on R&D and a turnover of 20 million Euros. All manufacturing and installation of our solutions is carried out by European subcontractors under our direct control. Unusually, this commercial success has been achieved purely through organic growth and internal reinvestment without outside financial support.
UTEL key markets are Copper and Fibre Test Access Switches and testing solutions. Our company's strength is our ability to innovate and create optimal solutions at lightning speed - as we often half jokingly say, "in less time than it takes our competitors to review their mission statements!". Our area of expertise covers a wide range of disciplines including analogue and digital electronics, mathematics, software, mechanical and production engineering and has recently been extended to cover civil engineering to enable us to take the costs out of FTTC deployment.
Environmental Policies
UTEL is a green company. We support energy efficiency, waste management and recycling. We believe in designing products to minimise environmental impact and to facilitate recycling. UTEL has developed innovative packaging re-use schemes in our installation programmes which are not only environmentally friendly, but also save costs!
Manufacturing of our products is primarily subcontracted to our manufacturing partner, Hosiden Corporation of Japan who provide ISO 9001 quality controlled, environmentally friendly manufacturing facilities throughout their EU factories.
