Block TAM
Superficially, ‘Plug On’ TAM modules which can be plugged into existing IDC Strips seem an ideal and obvious solution for retrofitting TAM to existing DSL installations. Unfortunately it is very difficult to turn this concept into a reliable TAM solution. UTEL has spent considerable design effort in this area and we have concluded that it is simply not possible to produce a "Plug On" product that will reliably work long term in real installations. This view has been borne out by the experience of network operators using such products.
UTEL can however offer a 128 Pair (16 x 8 way IDC Strip) and a 200 Pair (25 x 8 way IDC Strip) Block TAM for Distribution Frame and ETSI Rack Mounting. All of these products feature removable relay cards which interconnect to a backplane holding the IDC strips. The relay cards do not need to be removed to enable jumpering in the case of these products.
Individual Switch Matrices in excess of 25,000 lines per installation can be simply put together by daisy-chaining our Block TAMs.
UTEL Block TAM is supplied with two four wire Test Busses as standard.
It can also be supplied with additional features such as "Surf and Test". This patented feature maintains the DSL connection during copper line testing.
UTEL TAM is an industrial strength solution. Advanced self-test facilities are built in as standard and we also have proven planning and installation processes available to facilitate mass rollout programmes. Our web based Element Manager software and laptop site verification application are provided free of charge to all of our customers as these are essential tools to ensure a successful rollout.
