Test Access Matrix (TAM)

TAMs provide a direct copper access path onto a customers line enabling the connection of test devices typically Line Test Heads, Robots, tones etc.

Rack Mounted TAMs

Rack Mounted TASM

Rack Mounted TAMs are separate units installed in Central Offices (COs) which are direct cabled into the path between the Line and the DSLAM.

UTEL are world leaders in the supply of modular rack mounted TASM solutions for xDSL line testing. UTEL currently have an installed base of over 9 Million Lines of rack mounted TASM in Europe.

Modular TAMs

Modular In-Line TAM

The In Line Modular TAM is available in an extensive range of DSLAM specific Modules. These TAM modules have been mechanically designed to mount direct on the DSLM connectors further reducing installation costs including retrospective installation on a working DSLAM. Lines are then routed through the TAM Module by simply moving the existing Line connector and cable at the DSLAM.

Modular TAM can be installed on DSLAM located in Central Offices or in Cabinets to provide Test Access for FTTC installations. In cases where the TAM Modules cannot be mounted on the DSLAM directly an external shelf is mounted on the DSLAM rack with a dedicated cable extension.

Intelligent Switch Matrix Controller (ISMC)

ISMCs

The ISMC is a TAM System Controller and is required to control and power both Rack Mounted and Modular TAMs over the unique UTEL "SwitchBus". The ISMC is normally rack mounted and only requires connection to a 48 Volt Supply and an IP Router. For FTTC Cabinet installation the integrated FTTC Cabinet Test Controller (CTC) combines the ISMC functionality within a Test Head.

All UTEL Test Access Switches are managed and controlled by our Inteligent Switch Manager Controller. UTEL currently offer two versions and support many older variants.
