Service Commissioning

We know that service commissioning failures are very costly to fix, but they also significantly reduce customer satisfaction levels. UTEL’s fibre optic testing system allows operators to test the PON network (Passive Optical Network) when a customer places their order and before the engineer leaves the depot to provision the service. The test runs from the centralised OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) tester, to the final Distribution Point. It takes just seconds and confirms the DP is lit before the engineer leaves the depot. This eliminates wasted truck rolls while boosting customer satisfaction. To complete the installation, the engineer initiates another centralised OTDR test from their smartphone, to confirm the service installation is within specification, before sign-off.
